The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) published the 2022 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) Final Rule in November 2021. The final rule includes proposed annual updates to the relative weights of physician services, and addresses conversion factor and payment decreases related to 2020 year-end Congressional changes to the 2021 MPFS. Additionally, two regulations – both Interim Final Rules – pertaining to the No Surprises Act were issued in the second half of 2021 that address the January 1, 2022 implementation of the No Surprises Act.
